Basketball Lady ‘Cats drop first game of the year in 79-62 road loss to Fairmont State

FAIRMONT — Rebounding dominance by the West Virginia Wesleyan College women’s basketball team wasn’t enough to stop host Fairmont State University and the Falcons beat the Lady Bobcats 79-62, Saturday in Fairmont.

Wesleyan controlled the boards, posting a 54-33 rebound advantage with Desiree Roy pulling down 16 rebounds as a part of a double-double performance. Her 19 points led all Lady Bobcats. Shelby Genes added 15 points in her best performance of the young season.

But a great Wesleyan defense was throttled by the Lady Bobcats’ 30 turnovers which directly led to 46 Falcons points.

The Lady Bobcats will host Frostburg State University Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 5:30 p.m. in Rockefeller Center. Admission is free.
