Basketball ‘Cats fall at home to winless Frostburg State, 86-83

BUCKHANNON — It came down to three successive three-point attempts in the final 10 seconds but the Bobcats men could not hit the tying shot and West Virginia Wesleyan College dropped a close one to Frostburg University, 86-83 in the Rockefeller Center, Tuesday.

From the field, the teams were nearly identical. Wesleyan shot 47% with 11-of-21 three-pointers and Frostburg was 46% in field goals with 8-of-20 three-pointers.

The Mountain East Conference Player of the Week from week one, Deiker Padrino, led the Bobcats with 23 points, three assists and five rebounds. Alex Mirhosseini and Maxwell Harris each added 13 points and Harris snatched eight rebounds to lead the defense.

Wesleyan, now 1-5 in 11 days of play, returns to action after a long-awaited holiday break when it travels to West Liberty University Wednesday, Nov. 29 for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
