BUCKHANNON — The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats broke a seven-game losing streak with an 85-78 victory in the Rockefeller Center over Salem University, Saturday.
In the much-needed win, Wesleyan put together a good shooting performance, going 53 percent from the floor over 40 minutes while keeping the Tigers to 45 percent. The Bobcats also sank more free throws than Salem, hitting 21-of-26 to the Tigers’ 12-of-14.
Wesleyan junior guard Michael Batchelor nailed 4-of-7 three-pointers and had 8-of-14 shooting from the field. His 22 points and seven rebounds led the team.
With 4-of-6 field goals for 13 points and three rebounds was forward Curtis Litton. Alex Mirhosseini added 4-of-11 and a pair of free throws for 13 points.
For Salem, Jalen Barnes led the way with 15 points, three rebounds and five assists. Kevin Constant added 12 points, a rebound and three assists.
The Bobcats travel to Huntington on Monday, Dec. 16 for a 7 p.m. tip with Marshall University.
