Basketball Bucs begin sectional play Tuesday at University

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers will be the three seed in the upcoming Region I, Section 2 basketball tournament that gets underway on Tuesday.

The Bucs (6-16) will visit the No. 2 seed University (13-9) in Morgantown at 7 p.m.

The Bucs and Hawks opened the 2022-23 season with the Hawks coming out with a 68-48 win.

The other Section 2 game will see fourth seed Preston (1-21) visit top seed Bridgeport (15-7) Tuesday at 7 p.m.

On the other side of the section, No. 4 seed John Marshall (12-10) will visit No. 1 seed Morgantown (20-2) and No. 3 Brooke (10-12) will travel to No. 2 Wheeling Park (15-7). Both of those games are Tuesday at 7 p.m. as well.

The semifinal winners in both sections will meet at the higher seed on Thursday.
