Barbara June Anthony

Barbara June Anthony, age 84, of Buckhannon, died Monday, January 1, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. 

She was born on October 9, 1939, in Kentuck, WV, a daughter of the late Della and Dolly Rhodes Scarbrough.  On September 15, 1960, she was united in marriage to Richard Ralph Anthony who survives.  Also surviving are one daughter Sondra K. Anthony of Buckhannon; and two brothers:  Dale (Wilda) Scarbrough of West Richfield, OH and Kenneth (Sharon) Scarbrough of Ripley. 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother Keith Scarbrough; one sister Ruth Tucker; five half-brothers: Winford, Basil, Ray, Teddy, and Junior Scarbrough; and two half-sisters:  Delphia Webb and Mildred Scarbrough. 

Mrs. Anthony was a member of the Straight Fork United Methodist Church, the Straight Fork CEOS, and an especially active member of Chapter 18 Order of the Eastern Star.

Special thanks are extended by the family to Dr. Brown and St. Joseph’s Hospital NCF nurses and staff.

The family will receive friends at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 12:30-2:00 PM—the funeral hour, with the Rev. Dr. Ken Ramsey officiating.  Interment will follow in the Wimer Cemetery at Straight Fork.
