B-U’s Farmer earns All-State football honors

Savion Farmer was the lone Buckhannon-Upshur to earn all-state honors this season as he was named the Honorable Mention Team (Brian Bergstrom/My Buckhannon).

TENNERTON – Buckhannon-Upshur junior tailback Savion Farmer was the lone Buccaneer to garner all-state football honors this season.

Farmer was named to the West Virginia Sports Writers Association Honorable Mention Team.

Farmer led an impressive Buckhannon-Upshur ground game that accumulated over 1,600 yards this year and averaged 179 yards per game.

Farmer led the ground game, carrying the ball 137 times for 846 yards and scoring six touchdowns in eight games. He averaged 106 yards per game.

“Savion had a great year and we look forward to having him back in 2022,” stated Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Zach Davis.

Davis guided the Bucs to a 3-7 record in his first year as the team had won just two games in the previous two years.

Martinsburg’s Hudson Clement, who set a state record with eight touchdowns in the Bulldog’s victory over Huntington in the Class AAA title game, captains the First Team Offense.

Spring Valley’s Ty Bartrum captains the First Team Defense.

Trey Dunn of South Charleston was named captain of the Second Team Offense while Parkersburg’s Bryson Singer was captain of the Second Team Defense.
