Arden Jackson “Zipp” Lee

Arden Jackson “Zipp” Lee, 77, of Rock Cave, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center following an extended illness. 

He was born on July 19, 1944, a son of the late Ellis and Phyllis Payne Lee.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters:  Zeda Mae Lee and Dortha Lee; and two brothers:  Duane Lee and Denzil Lee. 

He is survived by two sons:  Kenneth Lee and wife Jennifer of French Creek and Michael Lee of Springfield, OH; one sister Helen “Peg” and husband Elmer Moore of Rock Cave; one brother Johnnie Lee of Rock Cave; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his longtime companion Lisa Stover.

Arden served with the US Army in Vietnam and was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and DAV.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel from 12-1:00 PM—the funeral hour.  Private interment will be made at the Lee Cemetery at Kanawha Head.

School bus crashes on Route 20 after hitting black ice; one child taken to hospital

A school bus carrying 25 students slid on black ice on Route 20 Wednesday morning and went off the road, according to Upshur County Sheriff Mike Coffman. All students were checked at the scene, and one child was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with minor injuries.
