For the third year in a row, Appalachian Impact, in partnership with The Band of Brothers, is returning with scholarship opportunities for local students. Four $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students seeking to further their education through a traditional college or vocational school.
The Russ and Debbie Bush Hope Scholarship will award $1,000 each to one male and one female student who have shown resilience in overcoming adversity and exhibit a strong sense of hope. The scholarship is named after Russ and Debbie Bush, longtime Buckhannon residents and advocates for joy, love, and a willingness to serve. Russ was Appalachian Impact’s first mentor and helped to shape the heart of the organization.
The Dorse Gillum Man of Kindness Scholarship will honor the legacy of Dorse Gillum Jr., a man of deep faith and compassion. This $1,000 award will be presented to one male student with a steadfast commitment to his community and a dedication to making a positive difference.
The Steve and Kathy Foster Woman of Strength Scholarship honors the enduring legacy of the couple known for their unwavering dedication to making their community a better place to live for everyone. The Fosters’ values of service, resilience and determination to build a brighter future are the driving force behind this $1,000 scholarship for one female student.
