Active COVID-19 cases in West Virginia hit lowest level since mid-November

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Thursday that 469 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

Locally, new cases were reported in Upshur (5), Barbour (1), Lewis (25), Randolph (10) and Webster (1) counties. A total of 128 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR.

Twelve additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR:

a 68-year old female from Marion County,
a 68-year old male from Marion County,
a 67-year old male from Hancock County,
a 75-year old male from Harrison County,
a 75-year old female from Hardy County,
an additional 75-year old female from Hardy County,
a 92-year old female from Ohio County,
a 78-year old male from Morgan County,
a 73-year old male from Roane County,
a 50-year old male from Cabell County,
an 88-year old male from Berkeley County,
an 89-year old female from Summers County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of February 11, 2021, there have been 2,028,981 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 126,420 total cases and 2,187 total deaths,” according to a press release.

About 13,535 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 110,698 people have recovered and 2,187 have died. The daily percent positive was 3.28%.

A total of 115,598 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.
