A Blooming Success: Nursing Home Arrangement Workshop spreads holiday cheer in Buckhannon

BUCKHANNON – The owner of Three Little Buds hosted a Nursing Home Arrangement Workshop on Sunday, Dec. 17, bringing together community members to assemble Christmas arrangements for nursing home residents at Holbrook Healthcare Center and Serenity Care Assisted Living.

This tradition, initiated by Three Little Buds owner-founder Joanna Webb in 2020 with family and friends, has now blossomed into a popular community effort. The workshop drew many participants, who assisted in putting together 85 holiday arrangements that will soon find their way to brighten the days of residents in assisted living facilities.

Webb, a college chemistry professor and florist, has been cultivating local flowers with love and dedication since 2018. Her commitment to providing fresh, pesticide-free and locally grown blooms has garnered attention and support from the Buckhannon community.

The Nursing Home Arrangement Workshop was a delightful mix of creativity, camaraderie, and festive spirit. Attendees, armed with cute little bases and an array of flowers and greens, got hands-on guidance from Webb herself. The arrangements – combinations of pinecones, Magnolia leaves and various pine branches – were crafted with love and care.

“I’m just so appreciative that people continue to come out to help; I think this is so much fun,” Webb said. “I’m grateful for the community’s continued support, and the nursing homes were excited that we were doing this again – they loved them last year.”

The $20 workshop fee covered material costs, and participants were even encouraged to take one of their creations home.
