West Virginia reports decline in active cases, one new COVID-19 death on Friday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Friday that 3,100 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s a decrease of 129 cases since the last report.

Locally, COVID-19 cases are active in Upshur (36), Barbour (13), Lewis (8), Randolph (212) and Webster (6) counties. In Upshur County, that’s a decrease of three active cases in the last 24 hours.

One additional deaths have been attributed to the disease in the last 24 hours, according to the DHHR – a 64-year old male from Marshall County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of June 11, 2021, there have been 2,936,873 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 162,939 total cases and 2,849 deaths,” according to a press release.

The daily percent positive was 1.95%.

A total of 767,010 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said. That’s about 43% of the state.
