Jewel Lynn Fisher

Jewel Lynn Fisher, age 63, of Buckhannon, gained her wings on Sunday, April 28, 2024. 

She was born on August 18, 1960, a daughter of the late James “Blue” and Cosbie Rebecca Crawford Fisher. In addition to her parents, Jewel was preceded in death by one brother Ernest Glen Fisher in December 2021 and one sister Zelda Ruth Hawkins in February 2024, with whom she once again gets to spend eternal life. 

She is survived by three brothers:  James Edward (Barbara) Fisher of Buckhannon, Thomas Mark (Sis) Fisher of Rock Cave, and Randall L. Fisher of Buckhannon; one sister Nancy K. (Eric) Cutright of French Creek; brother-in-law Bobby Hawkins of Buckhannon; several nieces and nephews:  Dustin Fisher of Clarksburg, Michelle (Doug) Edgell of Idaho Falls, ID, Bobbi Jo (Eric) Burkett of Greencastle, PA, Edward A. (Mary) Fisher of French Creek, Sarah K. (Matt) Brown of Ravenswood, Sonya M. (Stacey) Henderson of Buckhannon, Johnnie Fisher of Buckhannon, Tonya E. (Jon) Pharris of French Creek, Cristy D. (Travis) Carpenter of French Creek, Josh (Julie) Fisher of Buckhannon, Kayla Fisher of Rock Cave, and Morgan (Dusty) Walton of French Creek; and several great nieces and nephews.

Jewel was an avid volunteer in her community, known and loved by many.  She was part of the VIPS program for several years, as well as serving on the board of the West Virginia Strawberry Festival and many other organizations.  Jewel worked for Office Sales and Service for 16 years, and also spent many years working for Buckhannon-Upshur EMS and the Record Delta.  She was a Christian by faith and a long-time member of Good Hope Tabernacle as well as the Buckhannon Chapter 18 Order of the Eastern Star.

John 16:22: “So with you:  Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.”

The family will receive friends at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel on Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM, the funeral hour, with Pastor Holly J. Hoover officiating and the Order of the Eastern Star conducting memorial rites.  Interment will follow in the Lee Cemetery at Kanawha Head. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VIPS, 24 S. Florida Street, Buckhannon, WV 26201, the WV Strawberry Festival, PO Box 117, Buckhannon, WV 26201, or any other local organization in Jewel’s name.
