West Virginia reports 370 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, no new deaths

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Saturday that 370 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

Locally, new cases were reported in Barbour (9) and Lewis (1) counties.

A total of 18 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR.

No additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of May 1, 2021, there have been 2,726,507 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 153,498 total cases and 2,679 deaths,” according to a press release.

About 7,060 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 143,759 people have recovered and 2,679 have died. The daily percent positive was 3.28%.

A total of 622,595 people have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in West Virginia, meaning they have received both doses of the vaccine, the DHHR said.
