BUCKHANNON —The community partners hosting the COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Buckhannon are requesting assistance from the community.
Each clinic is staffed by 45 to 50 volunteers and since the clinics run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., meals need to be provided at each clinic. We are asking local organizations and businesses to consider providing food for the volunteers.
Pizza, sandwiches, pepperoni rolls or other lunch items will be welcomed. Also, monetary donations to be used toward purchasing food for the clinic volunteers is needed. Volunteers are also needed for a variety of duties at the clinic. To volunteer, register with West Virginia Responder Emergency Deployment Information (WVREDI) at https://www.wvredi.org. By registering, you will go through a credentialing process needed to obtain a WVREDI volunteer ID card. Registration is open to West Virginia’s health and medical professionals, as well as others who live or work in West Virginia and are willing to assist during a health related emergency or event.
Clinic partners are the Upshur-Buckhannon Health Department, along with Community Care of West Virginia, WVU Medicine/St. Joseph’s Hospital, Upshur County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Upshur County Commission, Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur, Buckhannon Upshur Chamber of Commerce and West Virginia Wesleyan College.
