The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Sunday that 423 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State, including one in Upshur County.
West Virginia has reported more than 400 new cases for four straight days and announced a record 5,415 active cases Sunday.
No additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of 10 a.m., November 1, 2020, there have been 785,622 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 24,883 total cases and 457 deaths,” according to a press release.
In Upshur County, two probable cases were moved from Oct. 29 to Oct. 30, and one new confirmed case was added to Oct. 31. A total of 46 cases remain active, according to the DHHR.
Upshur remains orange on the daily alert map in both infection rate and positivity percentage. Free testing will be held at Buckhannon-Upshur High School from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Lewis County reported five new cases on Sunday, while Randolph County had four and Barbour County had none.
New cases were reported Sunday in Berkeley, Boone, Braxton, Brooke, Cabell, Fayette, Greenbrier, Hampshire, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Kanawha, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, Marion, Marshall, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Mineral, Mingo, Monongalia, Monroe, Morgan, Ohio, Pendleton, Preston, Putnam, Raleigh, Randolph, Ritchie, Roane, Summers, Tucker, Tyler, Upshur, Wayne, Wetzel, Wood and Wyoming counties.
About 5,415 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 19,011 people have recovered and 457 have died. The daily percent positive was 3.64%.
