The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Thursday that 100 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.
One additional death has also been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – an 84-year old male from Jackson County.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of 5 p.m. on July 16, 2020, there have been 219,052 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 4,657 total cases and 99 deaths,” according to a press release.
The daily percent positive was 5.79%. Sixty-five people are hospitalized, the highest level on record, according to DHHR data that tracks back to May 1.
New cases were reported Thursday in Barbour, Berkeley, Boone, Cabell, Clay, Fayette, Grant, Hardy, Harrison, Jefferson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Marion, Marshall, Mingo, Monongalia, Ohio, Preston, Putnam, Raleigh, Randolph, Ritchie, Taylor, Wayne and Wood counties.
About 1,430 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 3,128 people have recovered and 99 have died.
