Buckhannon Fireworks Celebration Set for Sunday; Please Watch While Social Distancing

BUCKHANNON – The City of Buckhannon is hosting an Independence Day Fireworks Celebration on Sunday, July 5, 2020, at nightfall. Due to COVID-19, there will not be an event at Jawbone Park, nor a celebration on Main Street. 

Instead, we encourage everyone to watch outdoors while maintaining at least six feet distance between people (other than families living in the same household) or watching from your vehicle. If outdoors and near others, please wear a mask.

You may view the fireworks from your vehicle from the following businesses’ parking lots:

Citizens Bank

Community Bank

Premier Bank

Walgreens

Walmart

Or others, as available, and with permission of the business.

Please be courteous to these businesses who have graciously offered their facilities and do not leave litter behind.

Lacrosse Bucs crush Wheeing Park for first win, 15-3

Buckhannon-Upshur powered to its first win of the season with a 15-3 rout of Wheeling Park, using balanced scoring from seven players despite a near 30-minute delay. Braylon Oldaker, Easton Rice and Tobias Marple netted three goals each as the Bucs improved to 1-1.
