Webster Springs, W.Va. – Webster County Memorial Hospital (WCMH) is pleased to announce the addition of Robert Sutherland, DO, Emergency Medicine Physician, to their team of medical providers.  Dr. Sutherland comes to WCMH from Appalachian Mountains Medical in Welch, W.Va., where he has practiced six years in rural emergency medicine.

“The desire to work in a rural emergency department has always been attractive to me,” said Sutherland about his opportunity to practice at WCMH.  “I’m self-motivated and self-reliant, but I also love being part of a team, to help provide well-rounded care during complex cases. Working closely with patients, families and other providers to clearly diagnose the most difficult cases is a challenge I look forward to.”

Sutherland earned his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, FL.  He completed Emergency Medicine Residency Programs at both UPMC Hamot Medical Center in Erie, PA and Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, OH.  He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biochemistry/Molecular Biology from the University of Central Florida.

“Dr. Sutherland is an accomplished Emergency Department Physician, who brings excellent diagnostic and treatment skills in high pressure situations,” said WCMH CEO Jim Parker, FACHE.

Sutherland, who describes himself as a ‘strong leader’ says he has a “commitment to continual learning” and he “likes to treat medical conditions and disorders in patients of all ages.”
