No serious injuries in wreck at intersection of Red Rock Road, Route 33 Tuesday

BUCKHANNON – One person received a minor injury but no one was transported to the hospital in the wake of a two-vehicle wreck that occurred at the intersection of Red Rock Road and U.S. Route 33 West on Tuesday.

The wreck happened at about 1:20 p.m. May 26 when the driver of a black Ford Taurus, John Fox, of Clarksburg, was traveling east on Route 33 near the West Virginia Farm Bureau office and moved into the left-hand lane to pass a vehicle traveling in the right lane, according to investigating officer Senior Trooper P.J. Robinette with the Buckhannon detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Robinette said when Fox tried to pass another vehicle, he rear-ended a white Chevy truck, being driven by Anthony Conrad of Lewis County, which had slowed to turn left onto Red Rock Road. After striking Conrad’s truck, Fox’s vehicle then smashed into the guardrail on the righthand side of the roadway.

“The truck was slowing down to turn onto Red Rock and the black Taurus rear-ended the truck,” Robinette said late Tuesday afternoon. “Both drivers signed releases refusing medical transport, but the driver of the car (Fox) had a cut on his lip.”

Although Fox’s vehicle sustained disabling damage, Conrad was able to drive his vehicle away.

Robinette said as of Tuesday afternoon, no citations were issued. The Buckhannon police and fire departments, Upshur EMS and the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
