The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported a second batch of new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, including a new positive test in Upshur County.
According to the DHHR, the 21 new confirmations bring the statewide total to 483. Combined with the 50 cases reported Wednesday morning, the daily total of 71 is the largest increase since the first case was found in the Mountain State more than three weeks ago.
The 21 new cases were among 314 total tests included in the Wednesday afternoon update. Overall, 12,859 people have been tested for COVID-19. Four people have died.
No additional details about the Upshur County case were available.
New cases were reported Wednesday afternoon in Berkeley, Cabell, Hampshire, Jefferson, Kanawha, Monongalia, Ohio, Raleigh, Taylor and Upshur counties.
