Boulders strike car, PRT in Morgantown

The Morgantown Police Department posted these images on social media of damage caused by a rock slide on Monday.

The West Virginia University Public Rapid Transit system is closed after an incident occurred between the Engineering and Beechurst Stations Monday afternoon on US-19 South at WV 705. All lanes are closed.

A rock slide occurred, and a PRT car was struck. University Police are at the scene assisting Morgantown Police with traffic control in the area between 8th Street and Evansdale Drive.

Three people have been taken to the hospital for evaluation related to the incident; one from a vehicle on the roadway and two from a PRT car. 

Buses are currently running during the PRT’s closure. There are two loops. A set of buses are running between the Life Science Building and Evansdale Crossing. Another set of buses is running between Towers, Evansdale Crossing and Mountaineer Station.
