Aloi joins Pallottine Foundation as Health Program Officer

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — The Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon recently hired a new employee as Health Program Officer. Susan Aloi will focus on implementing and managing the grant initiatives for the Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon.  

“West Virginia has serious problems. We also have many committed people working hard to improve their communities. I am grateful for this opportunity to make a difference in the health of our area through the Pallottine Foundation,” Aloi said.

Originally from the DC area, Susan Aloi is a West Virginian by choice, settling here soon after graduating from college and making Buckhannon home for more than 20 years. Susan earned her M.B.A and B.S. from West Virginia Wesleyan College and her Ed.D. from West Virginia University. Throughout her adult life, Dr. Aloi has been engaged in communities, helping to start and govern nonprofits, and advocating for creative forms of community and economic development. 

A faculty member of West Virginia Wesleyan College since 2007, Aloi served most recently as Director of School of Business at the College. She serves on the board of the West Virginia Nonprofit Association, is co-president of the West Virginia Center for Civic Life, is a member of the Kettering Foundation’s Business & Community Research Exchange, and a member of the West Virginia Community Development Hub’s Network Leadership Team.

“We are pleased that Susan has chosen to join our team as Health Program Officer,” said Janell E. Ray, Pallottine Foundation Executive Director. “We are confident that Susan’s long history of community engagement in our region and her involvement with area non-profits will be a great benefit to the Foundation, and the non-profit organizations we serve, as we partner together to improve the health of our community.”

The Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon serves five counties in the region and has four broad areas of funding priorities: Health & Wellness, Lifestyle Education, Leadership Development, and Pastoral Care.

The Pallottine Foundation of Huntington was established with proceeds from the sale of St. Mary’s Medical Center, and continues the legacy established by the Pallottine Missionary Sisters of caring for the spiritual, emotional and physical health of those in the region. The Foundation focuses its efforts on four primary areas: food insecurity, mental and behavioral health, substance abuse disorder, and tobacco cessation. Its service area includes Boone, Cabell, Mason, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Mingo, western Putnam, and Wayne counties in West Virginia; Gallia, Lawrence and Scioto counties in Ohio; and Boyd, Carter, Floyd, Greenup, Johnson, Lawrence, Martin and Pike counties in Kentucky.
