Gallery update: Lady ‘Cats drop heartbreaker to Slippery Rock

Despite leading nearly the entire game, the West Virginia Wesleyan College Lady Bobcats conceded twice in the final 10 minutes of a 2-1 loss to Seton Hill on Sunday evening.

Midway through the first half, Shannon Shawgo fired off a hard shot and Haelly Ramirez rocketed in the rebound to put the Wesleyan women’s soccer team on the board in their season opener.

But the Rock scored twice late, and the first of those goals proved particularly costly as LBC keeper Ashlee Schumacher went down with a leg injury and was transported from the field for medical treatment.

The Lady ‘Cats are on the road for their next three matches but return to Buckhannon to face Concord on Sept. 25, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.

My Buckhannon photographer Brian Bergstrom has posted more than 100 new high resolution photos from Wesleyan’s game against Slippery Rock here. Note that gallery access requires a premium membership. For a limited time, use coupon code FALLSPORTS2019 to save $15 off your first year.
