A major water line break in Tennerton is affecting customers in the southern part of Upshur County today, April 22.
City of Buckhannon Water Department crews were working to shore up the rupture along Route 20 South between Bragg’s Trailer Court and the Upshur County Public Library. Workers on site said at 1:45 pm. they were nearly finished with the repair.
According to an alert issued this morning, a main water line break in Tennerton was affecting customers in the Tennerton and Adrian PSDs. A second alert was issued about 30 minutes later saying that City of Buckhannon customers in the Route 20 South area also might experience low pressure or a lack of water due to the break.
Then, early this afternoon, the Buckhannon Water Department issued a boil water notice for the Tennerton area, from Alfredo’s Restaurant to Tractor Supply, including Memorial Park Drive, Jack Lane, Boxwood Drive, Braggs Trailer Court, Morris Street, High School Street, Jackson Park Avenue, Mott Drive, Flagstone Drive, Tomblyn Drive and Gawthrop Road.
The Adrian PSD then issued a precautionary boil water advisory for its entire system due to the break. In addition, city information coordinator Callie Cronin Sams said the area will remain under a boil water advisory until the Upshur-Buckhannon Health Department runs tests on the water to ensure it is safe for drinking.
The boil water notices last until further notice.
