Dear Editor,
As we went to the polls to cast our levy vote, we were honored that Upshur County Schools is recognizing our military and veterans by offering free passes to school sponsored sporting events. These passes are made possible by using levy funds.
We are lifelong residents who attended Upshur County Schools, veterans and parents. It is for all these reasons we support our levy. We have all read what the levy funds provide within our schools and we know how important it is.
Today, we just wanted to focus on the support that our schools are giving to the men and women who currently serve or have served in the military. What a wonderful partnership this will create for the students of Upshur County. Each year all nine schools in Upshur County has a celebration for our active military and veterans to teach our young people about the importance of service above self and the sacrifices others have made for this great country.
Men and women in the military possess unique honorable qualities that foster an environment that prompts honesty, integrity, trust, respect and dignity. The levy will support the importance of having our military and veterans in the stands supporting our student athletes. I am happy we live in a community where our schools honor the military and veterans, by offering free passes. We are prompting good citizenship and providing our future leaders with positive role models.
Thank you Upshur County Schools for supporting our military and veterans. We encourage everyone to do his or her civic duty and go VOTE. Support our children, our teachers and our schools. Support a county that supports our military and our veterans.
