Sam’s Pizza Day to benefit pancreatic cancer research on Sunday, Nov. 1

Sunday, November 1 will be the fourth annual “Sam’s Pizza Day” for PanCAN at Sam’s Pizza, 9 Southfork Plaza Drive in Buckhannon. PanCAN is the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. A portion of each order placed will be donated to PanCAN for research.

Owner Sam Nolte picked this date because it was his dad, Bob Nolte’s birthday. Bob passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2015 at the age of 68. This annual event is a way to honor Bob and help make a difference in the fight against this terrible disease.

In 2026, an estimated 67,530 people will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the United States, which equates to 185 people every single day. It’s also estimated that 52,740 people across the United States will die this year alone. This includes nearly 300 in West Virginia.

Pancreatic cancer is the 11th most commonly diagnosed cancer in the United States, yet is the third most common cause of cancer-related deaths.

In the past three years, Sam has donated nearly $3,000 to the cause. He looks forward to seeing everyone on Sunday, November 1.
