This week’s Hank Ellis All-Stars: Lily Rice and Alex Wamsley

BUCKHANNON — My Buckhannon is proud to recognize another week of standout performances through its Hank Ellis All-Stars program, which honors Buckhannon-Upshur athletes excelling in football, soccer, cross country, volleyball and golf.

Each week, one male and one female athlete are selected for their impact, consistency and contributions to their teams.

For the week of Oct. 19-25, the honors go to Lily Rice and Alex Wamsley.

Rice, a sophomore forward on the Buckhannon-Upshur girls soccer team, played a pivotal role in the Lady Bucs’ postseason success. She scored both goals in a 2-0 victory over Woodrow Wilson in the opening round of the South Region Tournament, helping propel B-U into the next round.

Wamsley, a senior tailback for the Buccaneer football team, turned in his first 100-yard rushing performance of the season during Buckhannon-Upshur’s matchup with Lincoln. He carried the ball 19 times for 112 yards, averaging nearly six yards per attempt, and added a 29-yard reception to fuel the Buccaneer offense.

Congratulations to Rice and Wamsley, this week’s Hank Ellis All-Stars.
