West Virginia University placed its Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity chapter on interim suspension Friday, October 9, following hazing allegations, the university said.

The suspension took effect immediately. WVU’s Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities acted after multiple hazing reports, including allegations described in an earlier Campus Warning. The chapter is accused of violating the hazing provisions in Section 6.2 of the university’s Main Campus Student Code of Conduct.

Under the sanctions, chapter members cannot organize, attend or participate in social functions as a chapter, including hosting or co-hosting activities elsewhere. Recruitment and new member class programs have been halted, and the chapter cannot take part in university-sponsored programming.

The suspension continues until a formal hearing or another disposition addresses the allegations. Lambda Chi has five days to ask for a review and reconsideration of the sanctions.
