West Virginia’s fall turkey season opens Saturday, Oct. 10, in all 55 counties and runs through Oct. 18.
Hunters may take one turkey, male or female, during the fall season, according to an Oct. 9 release from the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources. Bows, crossbows and guns are allowed, with air rifles restricted to .22 caliber or larger.
Hunting is allowed from a half-hour before sunrise until a half-hour after sunset.
“The use of electronic calls and bait is prohibited,” the division’s release states.
Hunters ages 15 and older must carry a valid West Virginia hunting license and valid identification. Licenses are available from agents statewide or at WVhunt.com.
Later hunting segments run Oct. 26-Nov. 1 in 16 counties and Oct. 26-Nov. 15 in 14 counties. Details are on page 41 of the West Virginia Hunting Regulations Summary.
My Buckhannon previously reported that hunters took 537 wild turkeys statewide during the 2025 fall season.
