National 4-H Week begins October 4 in West Virginia, with community service projects and other activities planned through October 10, 2026.
Governor Patrick Morrisey designated the week, according to a WVU Extension release. West Virginia University’s 4-H offerings include clubs, school activities, livestock projects and camps, reaching young people in all 55 counties.
West Virginia State University (WVSU) offers workshops on subjects including robotics, cybersecurity and environmental protection.
“4-H gives young people the confidence and practical skills they need to be Beyond Ready to navigate an ever-changing world,” WVSU Associate Provost and Dean and Director of Agricultural Research and Extension Dr. Ami M. Smith said in the release.
Beyond Ready is the name of a national 4-H initiative to prepare young people for work and life, according to the release.
Members and supporters will mark the week by wearing green and sharing their experiences online with #4HBeyondReady and #National4HWeek, the release says.
Details about the programs are available from WVU 4-H and WVSU 4-H.
In Upshur County, 4-H has opened enrollment for the 2026-27 year at 4h.zsuite.org for young people ages 5 to 21.
