Richard Clell “Rick” “Pickle” Hawkins, 45, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, was born on April 26, 1981, and passed away unexpectedly on June 5, 2026.
Rick was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend whose larger-than-life personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Known affectionately as “Pickle,” he was deeply loved by his family, his many friends, and his extensive oilfield family, with whom he shared countless memories throughout the years.
Rick is survived by his loving wife, Amie Hawkins; his cherished sons, Alex Hawkins and Logan Hawkins; and his beloved godson, Andrew Perry. He is also survived by his mother, Judy Riffle, and stepfather, Junior Riffle. He leaves behind his brothers, Doug Hawkins, Daniel Sprouse, DJ Riffle, Joseph Riffle, and Hershel Riffle; his sisters, Cindy Nettles and Francis Riffle; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Terry and Barb Gower; his sister-in-law, Misty Hulcher; Grandmother Judy Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, David Hawkins; his maternal grandparents, Clell and Dorothy Syck; his paternal grandparents, Ray and Imogene Hawkins; his godson, Jonathan Perry; and his nephew, Elijah Nicholas Wyatt Linger.
Rick’s love for his family was evident in everything he did. He was a loyal friend, a hard worker, and someone who could always be counted on to lend a helping hand or share a laugh. The friendships he built throughout his life, especially within the oilfield community, became an extension of his family and will forever carry his memory forward.
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, those who knew and loved Rick will remember his strength, his generosity, his sense of humor, and the unwavering love he had for those closest to him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Friends will be received Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 2 PM to 4 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Chad Lewis officiating. In honoring Rick’s wishes, he will be cremated following the funeral services.
