Buckhannon Mayor Robbie Skinner has proclaimed Sunday, June 7, as Feast of Corpus Christi Day in the city, recognizing Holy Rosary Catholic Church and its parishioners as they mark one of the Catholic Church’s principal feasts.

Skinner read the proclamation at the June 4 Buckhannon City Council meeting. The mayor noted that the city issues the proclamation every year around this time.

The Feast of Corpus Christi, also called the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, honors the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. The proclamation describes the city and Holy Rosary Catholic Church as “united in promoting a deeply symbolic relationship” among townspeople and the parish, and recognizes the parishioners as “committed to living in the Eucharist, the true presence of Jesus Christ in the world.”

Skinner encouraged residents to “rejoice and celebrate with their friends and neighbors from the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.”
