Carolyn Teets

Carolyn Teets, a beloved member of the Buckhannon community, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, at the age of 77.

Born on June 25, 1948, in Elkins, WV, Carolyn lived a life rich with compassion and purpose. She graduated from Phillip Barbour High School and continued her education at Fairmont State, accomplishments that laid the foundation for a life dedicated to helping others.

Carolyn was known for her love of riding motorcycles alongside her late partner, Norman, and for her unwavering commitment to aiding others in their journey to sobriety. Her generosity and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she did not subscribe to formal religious practices, her life was guided by Christian principles, which she embodied in her daily interactions.

Carolyn is survived by her children, Jenny and her husband Tim Melton, Jerry Pingley, Sherri and her husband Clinton Dean; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Janet Poling and Truman England. She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest England; her mother, Mary Hunt England; her cherished partner, Norman Teets; and her siblings, Donna Yokum, Sherry Ward, and Slim England.

In accordance with Carolyn’s wishes, no formal services will be held. Instead, her friends and family will gather at a later date to celebrate her life and the impact she made on those around her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carolyn’s name to WVU Hospice.

As we remember Carolyn, let us hold onto the values she cherished: to hold the door, say please and thank you, and maintain integrity in all things. Though life presents challenges, Carolyn believed in the power of humility and kindness, urging us to remain grounded even as we achieve our dreams. Her legacy is one of pride in hard work and the grace of a humble heart. Carolyn’s spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her, reminding us to always stay humble and kind.
