Steven Wayne Cox

Steven Wayne Cox, 79, of French Creek, WV, passed away on March 30, 2026, in Markleysburg, PA, due to complications from dementia.

He was born on November 28, 1946, in Buckhannon, WV, the son of the late Betty Jean (Geraldine) Cox. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward Miller Cox and Zenna Belle (Riffle) Cox.

Steven proudly retired as a security officer after 40 years of service at West Virginia Wesleyan College, a job he truly loved. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, cherished by his family and friends.

He is survived by his three children: Danelle Cox of French Creek, WV; Brian Cox (Tammy) of Buckhannon, WV; and Gregory Cox of French Creek, WV.

He is also survived by five grandchildren: Brett Wayts (Ashley), Shane Wayts, Shantelle Scott (Vincent), Kendall Cox, and Kyle Cox; as well as six great-grandchildren: Hayleigh Wayts, Braydon Wayts, Hayden Scott, Lily Scott, Trevor Small, and Mina Small. He will also be remembered by several other family members and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Donald R. Crawford Funeral Home, Farmington. A private service will be held at a later date.
