The Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur assisted the Upshur Parish House in the packaging and distribution of school backpacks to Upshur County students.
The backpacks were tailored to male and female students in elementary, middle and high schools and contained a variety of school supplies and personal hygiene items. Items donated for the backpacks included notebooks, pens and pencils, personal items and other school supplies. The club packed 250 of the backpacks and supplied over 1300 notebooks. The Upshur Parish House supplied 644 backpacks this fall to students.
The mission of the Upshur Parish House is to work together as neighbors and help one another thrive.
“The strong, ongoing partnership between the Upshur Parish House and the Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur makes an incredible difference for local families,” said Isaac Casto, Parish House Executive Director. “By helping supply, pack and distribute hundreds of backpacks — especially ensuring every Head Start student received one — Rotary continues to show what it means to invest in our community’s future.”
