Buckhannon City has announced upcoming public meetings, community events, bid opportunities, waste collection dates, and facility updates for August 2025, encouraging residents to participate, stay informed, and maintain neighborhood upkeep.

All meetings, unless specified otherwise, are open to the public and will take place in the Council Chambers at Buckhannon City Hall, located at 70 E Main St, Buckhannon, WV 26201.

  • Yard Waste Collection for City Residents – Yard Waste (debris) will be collected from City of Buckhannon residents. Residents must contact Buckhannon City Hall to be placed on the collection list. City residents may take their bagged yard waste (debris) to the Transfer Station during regular operating hours at no charge, and may bring up to two truckloads per year, also at no charge.
  • Festival Fridays in Jawbone Park: Celebrate summer with Create Buckhannon! Enjoy live music from Beyond the Barrier Band (New/Variety), local food vendors, fresh produce, and artisans. Transfer Station is Now Open – The City of Buckhannon Waste Department Transfer Station has reopened after a temporary closure due to equipment failure. All services are once again being offered. Thank you for your patience.

Yard Waste Collection Updates

– Yard waste will be collected from Buckhannon residents on August 8 and August 22, 2025. Starting September 1, collections will be every Friday through November 30. Residents must contact City Hall to be added to the collection list. You can also drop off bagged yard waste at the Transfer Station for free, up to two truckloads per year.

Reminders – To help keep our town and streets attractive, please:

  • Lawn care needs to be performed weekly
  • Keep grass clippings out of the street as they can block stormwater drains and cause flooding. When mowing, always blow the grass away from the street.
  • Trash cans should be hidden from public view as much as possible during the week; place them at the curb the night before collection, and return them within 24 hours after collection.

Utility Bill Payments: Pay utility bills online at Municipal Online Payments or by phone at 1-866-933-4026. Setting up an account allows you to monitor your consumption.

Report Repairs or Concerns: To report issues such as potholes or damaged signs, please call City Hall during business hours to submit a work order or use our Citizen Engagement tool: Report a Concern.
