MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Seeds are set for the WVSSAC Regional Baseball Tournaments. Double-elimination play may begin on Monday, May 12.
In a new format this year, sectional play has been eliminated. Similar to the recently adopted format in basketball, all teams within a region will be seeded by coaches and split into two brackets. The winners of each bracket will play in the regional final (best-of-three series). The entirety of the regional round will be double-elimination and must be completed by Thursday, May 22.
Buckhannon-Upshur (8-15) earned the fifth seed in the Class AAAA Regionn I bracket and will visit John Marshall on Monday. The two teams did not face each other during the regular season.
Regional final series play can begin Monday, May 26. The highest remaining seed will host Game 1 and Game 3 (if necessary) in the series. The winners of the regional final series advance to the single-elimination state tournament.
