Soccer Buccaneers lose 5-0 home verdict to Bridgeport
Audrey Johnston placed fifth and Taylor Wright ninth to lead the Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Lady Bucs at the Stonewall Invitational. B-UMS finished fifth among six teams with 103 points and heads to the Mid Mountain Conference championships Saturday.
Coby Smith tallied two goals and an assist as Buckhannon-Upshur outlasted Cabell Midland 4-3. Jimmie Green’s winner with five minutes left capped a gritty Bucs performance and boosted their playoff seeding hopes.
Gwendolyn Rogosky broke the 20-minute barrier for the first time, finishing fifth in 19:39.5 at the Stonewall Invitational. The Lady Bucs placed third despite missing Chloe Lewis, with nine runners posting personal-best times.
Buckhannon-Upshur sophomore Mitchell Whitley cracked the top 10 at the Stonewall Invitational, placing eighth in 16:47.3 among 105 runners. The Buccaneers finished eighth as a team and now turn their attention to the Big 10 Conference Championships.
