Carol Jean Elbon Cutright Grose

Carol Jean Elbon Cutright Grose, 81, of the Bridge Run Community, entered into eternal rest on October 1, 2024. Born on August 29, 1943, in Sago, WV, she was the beloved daughter of the late Frank B. Elbon and Norma Shipman.

Carol’s greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert C. Grose; sons, Danny Cutright and wife Jill, Rick Cutright and companion Debbie, Robert Grose II and wife Jessica, all of Buckhannon, WV; daughters, Debra Simons and husband Roy of Volga, WV, Brenda Allen and husband Jim of Buckhannon, WV, and Melissa Stone and husband Mark of South Carolina and her cherished Aunt Jean, who held a special place in her heart. Carol was a proud grandmother to 21 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren, whose laughter and happiness were her greatest treasures.

She leaves behind her brothers Jim Elbon and wife Emily of Ohio, Ron Robinson of Ohio, and Steve Elbon and wife Sherry of Buckhannon, WV; her sisters Pam Robinson Jerina of Ohio, Nancy Elbon of Buckhanon, WV, and Patty McQuain and husband Jack of Buckhannon, WV; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored her.

Preceding her in death are her daughters, Diana Cutright and Tonya Radcliff, grandson Christopher Radcliff, and brothers Bert Elbon, Ray Robinson, and Ben Robinson.

A lifelong member of the Sago Baptist Church, Carol was deeply involved in her community. She served as past Regent of the Women of the Moose Chapter 319 and was a member of many organizations Buckhannon Chapter #18 Order of the Eastern Star, the Lorentz CEOS Club, and the Lorentz Community Building Inc. and The Summer Knights Car Club of Weston, WV.

An avid Civil War enthusiast, Carol enjoyed sharing her passion for history by portraying Mary Curtis Lee alongside her husband, General Robert E. Lee. Her creativity extended to her baking, where she crafted exquisite wedding cakes for family and friends. Additionally, she loved sewing and took great pleasure in creating Civil War dresses and wedding gowns for her daughters and granddaughters.

As a loving wife, nurturing mother, and devoted grandmother, Carol’s legacy of love and service will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be profoundly missed by her family and friends, and her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.

Friends will be received Friday, October 2 from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Wease L. Day and Rev. Dennis Estes officiating. Burial will follow in the Lorentz Cemetery in Lorentz, WV.
