BUCKHANNON — Buckhannon native and CBS News Senior White House correspondent and Buckhannon-Upshur High School graduate Weijia Jiang was recently spotlighted on CBS Mornings.
Jiang, a 2001 B-UHS graduate, was recently named to the A100 list, which honors the 100 most impactful Asian Pacific leaders in culture and society over the past year. According to Jiang’s CBS bio, she is CBS News’s senior White House correspondent based in Washington, D.C.
Her reporting is featured across all CBS News broadcasts and platforms, including CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell, CBS Mornings, and CBS News 24/7, CBS News’s premier 24/7 anchored streaming news service.
Jiang was born in Xiamen, China, and raised in West Virginia, after she immigrated with her parents when she was 2 years old. She currently resides in Washington, D.C., with her husband and their daughter and son.
Jiang is the 2024-2025 president-elect of the White House Correspondents’ Association. She visited Buckhannon during the West Virginia Strawberry Festival and took time to reflect on her childhood and the influences of some very special residents.
