BRIDGEPORT – Frostburg State’s Lauren Ceballos and West Virginia Wesleyan’s Kihiro Karasawa were named the first Mountain East Conference Tennis Players of the Week of the 2024 season, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
 
The MEC Tennis Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Ceballos, a freshman from Bel Air, Md., went 3-1 in singles and doubles play last week for Frostburg State. In non-conference play against Edinboro, Ceballos picked up a 7-6, 6-0 victory at No. 5, before teaming with Alyssa Kush to win 6-2 at No. 2 doubles. She also picked up a singles victory against Mercyhurst in non-conference play.
 
Karasawa, a junior from Iizuna, Japan, went 4-0 last week playing at No. 1 singles and doubles for the Bobcats. Against Kutztown, Karasawa picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory in singles play, while following up that performance with a 6-3, 6-1 win against Bloomsburg. He also teamed with Jed Platts to win two doubles matches last week.
