Wesleyan swimmers wrap up regular season with Fairmont State

BUCKHANNON – The West Virginia Wesleyan men’s and women’s swim teams finished up the regular season in the Natatorium against Fairmont State on Friday.

The men lost a 147-47 decision while the women lost 193-43.

Some notable performers for the men were Marcus Walker, who placed first in the 100-yard fly with a time of 55.11 and first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:06.74. Marcus also finished second in the 100- yard backstroke with a time of 56.52. Caleb Martin placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.73. Stephen Groves placed fourth in the 200-yard free at 2:08.36 and 5th in the 100-yard free with a time of 55.74. 

For the women’s, Alienor Dalle placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:19.27 and finished third in the 50-yard freestyle at 28.40. Zeina Abdelsalam finished third in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 34.85 and in fourth the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:28.74. 

The Bobcat swim teams will head to Canton Ohio for the MEC/GMAC Championship. It will be held Tuesday, Feb. 13th through Saturday, Feb. 17th.
