ELKINS – Davis & Elkins College has received initial accreditation for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN-BSN), delivered via distance education, from the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA) Board of Commissioners. The six-year initial accreditation status will remain in effect through October 31, 2024.
“We are so pleased that our program is recognized by this national accrediting agency,” Chair of the D&E Division of Nursing Dr. Threasia Witt said. “The program graduates thoughtful, assured leaders who assume advanced positions and pursue graduate education. The graduates who contact us believe the program gave them confidence to assume these advanced positions and accept the challenges of graduate school.”
The Board of Commissioners’ decision was based upon a review of the program’s self-study report, on-site program evaluation team report, the NLN CNEA Program Review Committee’s report, the program’s submitted follow-up report and the determination that the program is in compliance with the NLN CNEA’s Standards of Accreditation.
Designed for working RNs, the RN-BSN Degree Completion Program offers professionals a convenient and efficient way to further their education. All classes are offered online in three, consecutive 16-week rotations. Each rotation is divided into two, eight-week modules that provide between six and seven credits per session.
The program emphasizes leadership and management, evidence-based practice, teamwork and collaboration, and the current health care system. The program grants up to 72 credits for prior educational experience, 28 credits of nursing, 12 general education credits and up to 24 credits for professional experience. All graduates will have to complete 124 credits to obtain the baccalaureate degree.
