Wesleyan XC teams run at Slippery Rock

SLIPPEREY ROCK — The West Virginia Wesleyan cross-country teams participated in the Bill Lenox Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock University Saturday afternoon.

The women’s team, who was lead by junior Leigha Hall, came in fifth place after her amazing performance. The men’s team who were led by freshman Kent Niland, came in fourth place behind his monumental performance. Both of these athletes ran the fastest time by both a male and female since 2017.

The Bobcats were competing against 11 other college and universities and were led by Niland who ran a personal best 25:53. Niland came in 11th out of 156 runners. He was followed by Evan Pyles who came in 17th finishing the event running a 26:19 with a pace of 5:18.

The women participated against the same 11 teams and were led by Hall, who ran a personal best 22:26. Hall came in fifth place out of 150 runners. She was followed by sophomore Marimo Akita who came in 27th running a 24:35 with a pace of 6:36.

The teams will now be preparing for the Mountain East Conference Championships which will take place on October 21.
