BUCKHANNON – My Buckhannon is proud to present another edition of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. Each week, we will select a female and male athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur who has had an exemplary week on the baseball and softball diamonds, the track and field, the lacrosse field, or the tennis courts.
Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the week of May 6 – May 12 are Landon Marple and Alivia Cogar.
Marple is a junior on the track and field and baseball teams. In a sectional tournament loser’s bracket game, he tossed a no-hitter against Preston in a 6-1 win. During the four-game sectional tournament, he hit .273 scoring two runs. On the track, he qualified for the state meet as part of two relay teams, the 4×100-meter relay team that placed fourth and the 4×200-meter relay team that finished fourth at regionals.
Cogar is a freshman on the Lady Buc track and field team. As a freshman, she qualified for three events at this weekend’s state track meet, running in two individual events and one relay event. At regionals, she placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.55 and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a clocking of 49.98. She is also part of the 4×102.5 shuttle hurdle relay team that is going to states after placing sixth with a time of 1:12.60.
Congratulations to Marple and Cogar as our weekly winners of the Hank Ellis All-Stars honor.
