BUCKHANNON – An Upshur County man was arrested Saturday after allegedly threatening to burn someone’s house down.
Charles W. Pringle Jr., 46, of French Creek, was arrested for burglary, a felony; threats of terroristic acts, a felony; and making threats, a misdemeanor.
According to the criminal complaint in the Upshur County Magistrate Clerk’s Office filed by Upshur County Sheriff’s Deputy Dakota Linger, on Saturday, July 22, Linger received a call from the E911 Upshur Communication Center about threats that had been made at a residence on the Alton Road. Linger called the complainant, who said that on the prior day, Friday, July 21, Pringle allegedly came into her home, screaming and threatening to hit her.
According to the report, after being told to leave by the victim’s husband, Pringle allegedly threatened to burn their house down and shoved their trash can in the middle of their driveway when leaving the property. The complainant told police that on Saturday, July 22 — the day she had contacted the Comm Center — Pringle allegedly continued to mess with the victim by shoving her trash can in their driveway again.
Linger spoke with Pringle, and he allegedly admitted he did threaten to burn her house down, according to the file.
Upshur County Magistrate Alan Suder set bail at $103,000 cash only.
The penalty for a conviction of burglary is confinement in the state penitentiary for one to 15 years. The penalty for threats of terroristic acts is a fine of not less than $5,000 nor more than $25,000, imprisonment in the state penitentiary for one to three years, or both. Finally, the penalty for threats is confinement in jail for not more than six months, a fine of up to $1,000, or both.
