“I’m ready”: Buckhannon native Dakota ‘Lone Wolf’ Linger takes on match at Madison Square Garden

NEW YORK, NY – Buckhannon native and Upshur County Sheriff’s Deputy Dakota Linger will take on a major fight at Madison Square Garden this Saturday, June 24.

Linger will face Reshat “The Albanian Bear” Mati at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. This Super Lightweight boxing event is an undercard for the Berlanga vs. Quigley: Fight Night televised matchup.

The Mati vs. Linger Super Lightweight division (140-147 pounds) is scheduled for 10 rounds of action-packed boxing.

“I’m excited to be here. It’s an honor again to be here for the third time in a row. I got a three-week notice [for this fight] so we did the best we could [for training],” Linger said during a press conference Thursday. “I’m ready.”

Linger was the former Lightweight Champion of the West Virginia Toughman Contest for two consecutive years, in 2013 and 2014. His current record stands at 13 wins, 5 loses and 3 draws with 9 knockouts.

Linger’s undefeated opponent Reshat Mati represents New York, NY, with a current fight record of 13-0 with 7 knockouts.

Linger was considered “all action” and “a big puncher” by DAZN Boxing press conference host Eddie Hearn.

The main event fight between Edgar Berlanga and Jason Quigley offers boxing fans an action-packed evening. Berlanga stands undefeated with a record of 20-0 with 16 knockouts, while his opponent Quigley stands with a record of 20 wins and 2 losses with 14 knockouts.

Fans of Dakota “Lone Wolf” Linger are encouraged to tune in on June 24 to a live broadcast on the DAZN Network beginning at 8 p.m.
