Tallmansville man arrested for alleged sexual abuse

Loudin

BUCKHANNON – An Upshur County man was arrested Wednesday for alleged sexual abuse, but details are limited due to a new state law that prohibits courts from releasing information about sex-related crimes.

Timothy W. Loudin, 61, of Tallmansville, was charged with one count of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian or other person in a position of trust to a child, a felony, according to the West Virginia Jail site and Cpl. F.J. Turansky with the Buckhannon detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Turansky, the investigating officer, said he was contacted by the Children’s Advocacy Center team coordinator at the Charleston Area Medical Center regarding two juveniles who allegedly said that Loudin had sexually abused them. The minors told forensic interviewers that the alleged incidents occurred from roughly March 1, 2018, through April 5, 2023, according to Turanksy.

According to the regional jail site, Loudin is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond.

Turansky could provide some basic information in this case, but the Upshur County Magistrate Clerk’s Office could not release the criminal complaint due to West Virginia Senate Bill 616. That bill, which went into effect in 2022, prohibits courts from releasing criminal complaints and other court records involving sex-related crimes.

It has always been My Buckhannon’s policy not to disclose the names of victims or specific identifying information related to them in sex-related crimes cases.
