Wesleyan lacrosse falls on the road to Frostburg State, 26-4

FROSTBURG, Md. – The West Virginia Wesleyan lacrosse team fell at Frostburg State Wednesday evening 26-4. FSU had 38 shots on goal and forced Wesleyan into 24 turnovers on their way to victory.

Frostburg State jumped out to a 9-0 lead after the first quarter and WVWC finally scored their first goal halfway through the second quarter. Kaitlyn Canby scored the only goal of the half for Wesleyan as FSU led 15-1 at halftime.

Raveena Navalgund and Makenzi Lewellyn found the back of the net in the third quarter but the offense of Frostburg State continued to be too much, leading 22-3 after three quarters. The fourth was a lot quieter for both offenses as Yuka Mizuide scored the lone goal for WVWC in the final quarter with FSU winning 26-4.

Neila Haney led all scorers with six goals and Lilly Stephens added five goals for FSU. Cammie Schniedwind assisted on five goals and Haney was second with four assists. McKenna Shay had five saves.

Mizuide, Lewellyn, Canby and Navalgund all had one goal apiece for Wesleyan. Navalgund added an assist as well. Gabriella Gomez put together 12 saves.
