TENNERTON — A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle while walking along Route 20 Thursday evening suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to state police.
Cpl. V.J. Pyles with the Buckhannon detachment of the West Virginia State Police said Friday that Daniel Ross, 52, was struck by the right mirror and fender of a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer being driven by Winston Kelley, 25, of Buckhannon.
Ross was life-flighted to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, according to Pyles. The accident occurred just after 9:30 p.m.
“The pedestrian said he had been talking on his cellphone and had gotten out a little into the roadway,” Pyles said.
Pyles said Friday Ross’ injuries were to his lower extremities and non-life-threatening.
The driver, Kelley, has not been charged at this time, but the investigation is ongoing, Pyles said.
In addition to the state police, Sgt. Marshall Powers and Cpl. Dewaine Linger with the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department, the Buckhannon Fire Department and Upshur County EMS responded to the wreck.
